This year’s Youth Fishing Derby is from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 6 at Centennial Park, 2200, South Friendswood Drive. It gives kids aged 16 and under a chance to experience the sport of fishing and the outdoors. The pond is stocked with more than 650 pounds of catfish. A limited supply of bait, tackle, and loaner rods are available. No pre-registration or license is required.

Whataburger is providing free breakfast to participants beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Youth Fishing Derby is sponsored by Operation Redemption, Hometown Bank of Friendswood, Texas New Mexico Power Company, Sally Branson and Harris Hanson with Raymond James, Lutheran South Academy, Camp Gladiator Friendswood, Snapology, and Whataburger.
