The Pearland Pear Run, which includes a 10K and 5K run, a 5K walk and a 1K Kids’ Fun Run, will be celebrating its 12^th year on Saturday May 7.

Runners from all over Texas and Louisiana travel to the Pearland Town Center, located at 11200 Broadway St., to earn points for the larger marathons, run or walk for fun and sample vendors’ wares.

There is also a kids’ area, featuring bounce houses, Mr. Pear and yummy treats to try.

Proceeds from the Run benefit the Pearland Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (PCPAAA), which raises money to provide the Pearland Police Department with equipment and other essentials that are not in the City budget.

The Police Department holds two Citizen Police Academy (CPA) classes per year. Class 42 will graduate this month, and Class 43 will begin in August. For more information, visit PCPAAA.com.

The Police Department has also started a Teen CPA (TCPA). This class also meets twice per year, with the next class forming in September.
