Life Skills House presents the 2nd Annual Mother/Daughter Tea & Style Show Fundraiser on April 30, 2016 at Reflection Bay Event Center, located at 12234 Shadow Creek Parkway in Pearland from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
This is an event where moms and daughters can have some sweet bonding time. It’s a great mother’s day present that they will look forward to receiving each year. After all, who doesn’t like a tea party with a little fashion?
As they enter the room, they will feel as though they have been transported back in time to the nineteenth century as they experience the fullness of tea and fashion at its finest.
Life Skills House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Christian organization dedicated to helping multicultural young women, including but not limited to, those who were victims of human trafficking, those who are pregnant and single mothers from economically challenged backgrounds. We are committed to helping these women transition from surviving to thriving and redirecting the life course of two generations at once. Through practical life skills courses, job search, continuing education enrollment assistance and spiritual nurturing, we strive to give a hand up to those who are seen as a liability in the community so that they not only become active, productive citizens, but also become huge contributors in making our community a better place to reside. Unfortunately, 80% of young single mothers end up on welfare. Many of them are trapped in a viscous cycle of unemployment since they can’t afford childcare or transportation. We are raising funds to open a transitional living facility in Brazoria County to provide a controlled environment where these families can come aside from their intense financial struggles for a two year period and implement their new found skills. With the generous support of our community and two years of one-on-one coaching, they will achieve a lifetime of self-sufficiency!
