City officials have been in communication with FEMA in regard to potential buyout or mitigation programs to understand those and make judgments about the requirements and implications, as an option for areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey and areas that are repetitively flooded.

At this time, there have been no assurances that a buyout program will be offered locally. The City of Pearland encourages everyone who sustained flood waters in their home to protect their property by taking measures to remove wet carpet, sheetrock, insulation and dry out their homes.

As the City receives more information from FEMA or other federal/state officials, this information will be shared with City of Pearland residents. As information is available it will be posted on pearlandtx.gov.
