Harvey Update Saturday 6:30pm
City officials continue to monitor the weather and rain forecast. On Saturday night, an additional 4-6 inches is expected. On Sunday, an additional 6-10 inches, and on Monday the area may receive an additional 4-6 inches of rain. The rain threat continues through Wednesday. Because higher than normal tides limit the ability of Clear Creek to drain, the region could see catastrophic flooding.
Pearland/Friendswood remains under a Tropical Storm Warning and is included in a Flash Flood watch. Tropical storm wind conditions will continue to impact the area. Harvey is currently a Tropical Storm. The tornado threat continues with rain bands coming onshore and moving inland. If you live in a low lying area, be prepared to leave your home should major flooding occur. Maintain a “Go Kit” with important documents, change of clothes, medications, and any other essentials.
No evacuation orders have been issued.
Residents should monitor local forecasts and limit travel during heavy rains. Do not drive through high water: Turn Around Don’t Drown.
Be considerate do not operate a motor vehicle or a boat on a flooded street in such manner as to increase the level of flood waters. Vehicles driving through flooded streets can produce waves that can easily damage parked vehicles and homes.
