Keep Pearland Beautiful launches curbside textile recycling
Pearland residents are now able to recycle unwanted clothing, shoes and home goods. Keep Pearland Beautiful has partnered with Simple Recycling to provide free curbside textile recycling once a week on the regular recycling collection day. This program will target textiles going into landfills, not items being donated to charities, churches, non-profits and other organizations.

Attend the Stormwater Management Meeting
The City of Pearland will conduct its annual meeting to discuss the City’s Stormwater Management Plan at Pearland’s Earth Day Celebration. Join us to learn more about the Stormwater Management Plan and receive giveaways while supplies last. There will be a floodplain presentation for the kids and a Q&A session with City staff.

Plans progress for a SH 288 frontage road
Plans to construct a northbound frontage road from CR 59 to FM 518/Broadway to include a u-turn lane at CR 59 are in the works. This $9.9 billion road network would provide relief from SH 288 for vehicles traveling from CR 59 to FM 518 and provide managed access points for developments east of SH 288.

Safe Exchange Zone provides safe place for residents
The Police Department’s Safe Exchange Zone Initiative attempts to address safety and awareness concerns regarding internet-based purchases from websites such as Craigslist and EBay, as well as various local Facebook groups, or any other item advertised for sale from an individual, regardless of the source of the advertised sale. While many websites, including those previously mentioned, are credible and heavily utilized, their popularity make them an easy target for criminal activity from online predators. The City of Pearland offers a secure location for Pearland residents to help ensure their safety and to minimize the opportunity for an encounter to go wrong.

Fite Road Extension and Centennial Park Phase II begin construction
Construction for the Fite Road Extension and Centennial Park Phase II Projects has begun. The two projects are both near the existing Centennial Park and will have construction personnel, heavy equipment and possible deep excavations in and around the construction zone. Residents should exercise caution, stay alert for hazards and obey all signage and construction zones.
