Pearland Super Weekend includes free concert headlined by RaeLynn
Pearland gears up for a Pearland Super Weekend celebration as the Big Game approaches at NRG Stadium on Sunday, February 5, 2017. Warner Bros. Records/Warner Music Nashville recording artist RaeLynn headlines a Super Concert on Saturday, February 4th with Two Tons of Steel as the opening act during the free, outdoor concert at 7 p.m. at the Pearland Town Center, 11200 Broadway Street.
ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year nominee RaeLynn’s current single “Love Triangle” is the powerful first track from her Warner Bros. Records/Warner Music Nashville debutWILDHORSE, currently available for pre-order and set to release in 2017. “Love Triangle” tells her personal story in a way that “is a raw and emotional account of what it’s like to be the child of divorced parents” (People Magazine), which media and fans have immediately gravitated to, evidenced by the single sitting Top 15 sales per spin since release while the music video has racked up 3.8 million views.
Two Tons of Steel, another Texas artist, serves as opening act at the Super Concert kicking off at 7 p.m. Before there was Americana, before there was Texas Country, Two Tons of Steel front man Kevin Geil and his original band, “Dead Crickets,” rocked a sound that blended the best of musical worlds and pushed the envelope of “Texas” sound with a signature brand of high-energy country meets raw punk. Renamed Two Tons of Steel in 1996, Geil and his bandmates continue to push the line between country and punk.
In addition to the Saturday night Super Concert, visitors can get a taste of local cuisine by riding trolley car shuttles during the super weekend promotion between participating Pearland hotels and restaurants offering special incentives from 12 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 4th and Sunday, February 5th.
Several local restaurants including Pearland’s microbrewery and winery are offering special incentives for visitors who opt to visit by riding the trolley car shuttles. Currently, there are twenty-two stops along the route through the heart of Pearland available for a $1, one-way fare.
“Pearland is positioned less than 10 miles from NRG Stadium which means our eleven hotels are in perfect proximity for the Big Game festivities,” according to Kim Sinistore, Pearland Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director.
The weekend celebration, planned in conjunction by the Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Pearland Parks and Recreation, is designed to provide visitors and residents alike with entertainment options surrounding the Big Game.
“We welcome this special celebration by bringing this type of entertainer to Pearland for our residents as well as our out of town guests to enjoy,” said Hannah Godsil, Pearland Parks and Recreation Special Events Coordinator.
