Did you know that the State of Texas is currently holding about $4 billion in cash and other valuables waiting to be claimed by their rightful owners? Glenn Hegar, Texas Comptroller, estimates that 1 in 4 Texans haven’t claimed their property.  Examples include a dividend, payroll or cashier’s checks; stocks, bonds and mutual fund accounts; utility deposits and other refunds; insurance proceeds; mineral interest or royalty payments; dormant bank accounts; and abandoned safe deposit box contents.
