Chamber Program to Surprise Shoppers with Gift Certificates
With the holiday season coming, the Pearland Chamber of Commerce has launched a program in which group representatives will surprise shoppers at local businesses with gift certificates. Part of the chamber’s Pearland Purchase Power program to support local businesses, “Operation: Shop Pearland” will involve distribution of $50 gift certificates redeemable at local shops and restaurants. Shoppers will be targeted at locally owned shops on Nov. 20 and Dec. 3 and 9. A total of 14 certificates will be randomly awarded as a way to encourage local shopping.
Chamber research indicates that for every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $68 circulates in the local economy to support the community through local taxes and reinvestment by businesses.
