Tuesday, November 4 is the date of the General Election. Races on the ballot range from U.S. Senator, U.S. Representatives and Governor, to countywide races, County Commissioner and Justice of the Peace races within the county, and within their districts, a Brazosport ISD Bond Election and Damon ISD’s Trustee Election.

Election Day locations will be different from the last several elections. For most types of elections, precincts can be combined. But for the General Election in November of even-numbered years, state law requires that a polling place be opened in every voting precinct.

The Photo ID requirement is in effect for this election. The only acceptable forms of identification are the seven listed below:

• Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)

• Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS

• Texas personal identification card issued by DPS

• Texas concealed handgun license issued by DPS

• United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph (includes Veterans Affairs Card)

• United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph

• United States passport

With the exception of the U.S. citizenship certificate, the identification must be current or have expired no more than 60 days before being presented for voter qualification at the polling place.
