The Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) is now accepting nominations for the 2015-2016 titles of State Musician, State Poet Laureate, 2-D State Artist, and 3-D State Artist. All Texans are encouraged to participate, and self-nominations are certainly welcomed.

In order to be qualified, nominees must be native Texans or five-year residents of the state. Texas State Artists are established artists with a statewide, national or international reputation. They reflect Texas’ diversity and high-quality artistic offerings. Candidates must have received recognition for high levels of excellence and success in their respective disciplines. They also must have received critical reviews in state, regional or national publications.

A Texas State Artist serves a one-year term , represents the state’s artistic legacy, receives statewide recognition, and is provided with a unique marketing opportunity through this distinction.
