National Night Out for Texas Scheduled for October 7
On Tuesday, October 7th, citizens in neighborhoods throughout Pearland are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 31st Annual National Night Outevent.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and will not tolerate crime.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the event, residents in neighborhoods throughout Pearland will be asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout Pearland will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, visits from police, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities, and anti-crime rallies.
Individuals and representatives from associations who wish to register their neighborhood and/or block party can contact Community Service Officer Z. Davis at 281-997-4176 orzdaviswood@pearlandtx.gov. Registration is open to the first 30 representatives and will help ensure visits from the Pearland Police Department, Pearland Fire Department, and Pearland Emergency Medical Services and/or city officials.
