The Adult Reading Center‘s 3rd Annual Red Hat Literacy Luncheon will be held on March 27th, 2013 starting at 10:30am. The keynote speaker will be Neil Bush, son of George H.W. Bush (41st) former President and Barbara Bush, and brother of George W. Bush (43rd) former President and Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida. Get your tickets early! We’ve already sold over 351 and we only have a total of 525 tickets.

I am excited to hear Neil Bush son of George W. Bush Sr (41st) President and Barbara Bush and brother of George W. Bush (43) President on March 27th as the guest speaker for the Adult Reading Center Red Hat Luncheon. As chair of the Points of Light Board of Directors, Neil Bush expands the vision launched by his father, President George H. W. Bush and lived by his family members, who understand the critical importance of volunteers to the success of individual lives and the life of our country.

In addition to leading Points of Light, Neil is a director of the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M and serves on the board of the Houston Salvation Army. Neil and his wife, Maria Bush, are co-chairs of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, dedicated to increasing literacy rates for Houstonians of all ages.

In his professional life, Neil develops international business opportunities. As chair of the Great Texas Regional Center, he helps create jobs by recruiting immigrants to invest in the U.S. He is chair of Singhaiyi, a Singapore company investing in U.S. real estate, and director of Hong Kong’s Hoifu Energy, which has a diverse line of energy businesses. Neil is also chair of the Bush China US Relations Conference, which convenes American and Chinese leaders to cooperate on issues of global importance.

Neil is proud that the family passion for service has passed on to his children. Neil’s daughter, Lauren Bush Lauren, is founder and CEO of FEED Projects, a nonprofit that fights world hunger on behalf of the UN World Food Programme. His son, Pierce Bush, mentors an inner-city youngster and recently became vice president for development at Big Brothers Big Sisters in Houston.
