New Recycle Cans Coming for Pearland
From the Pearland Reporter News:
The City of Pearland will officially be delivering 96-gallon recycling carts to all neighborhoods and subdivisions within the city.
Over the past two years, the City of Pearland, along with its contractor for garbage/recycling, Waste Management, has enhanced recycling services, by implementing simple and efficient single-stream curb-side recycling collection. Residents have been able to combine recyclables into a single container and reduce the amount of waste sent to area landfills. The current 18-gallon bins will be obsolete by April 2014, and those wishing to recycle must start using the new carts by April 2014.
The advantages of this new cart include:
- More capacity for recycling (4 times more than current container)
- Carts are maneuverable and easy to roll
- Carts feature large wheels and do not need to be lifted and carried
- The carts have lids, which will reduce litter, odors, animals, and insect problems
Your recycling day will remain the same collection day of the week as it currently is and other garbage services will remain the same, as well. The carts should be placed on the street/curb by 7 a.m. on your recycling day with the front of the cart facing the street and the handle/wheels on the back-side of the cart facing your residence.
The City will also be sending out two informational mailouts regarding the carts. Please be on the lookout for those as they will also explain in detail the proper use of the carts.
