Gimme a (Heart) Beat! Zumbathon® at the RCN!
The party is back in action this month with another great Zumbathon® fundraising event! Are you ready to dance the night away? If not, get ready because the party begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 7 at the Recreation Center & Natatorium. Meet great people, be led by dynamic instructors and get ready to get your heart beating. Daddy Daughter Date Night – “A Candy-Land Adventure!”
Don’t miss the opportunity to make memories that will last a lifetime! On February 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., daddies and daughters are invited to attend Daddy Daughter Date Night, a special once-a-year evening devoted to the relationship and bonds between father and daughter. The event’s theme, “A Candy-Land Adventure” is sure to leave sweet lasting memories as Pearland Junior High South is transformed into a magical land of gumdrops, candy canes and lollipops. There will be dancing, fun contests, desserts and a photo area where our photographer will take commemorative photos. Couples are $30, with additional siblings added for only $10 more. Houston Rockets Presidents Day Clinic The Houston Rockets Presidents Day Clinic is designed to improve the skills of any young basketball player. Throughout this one-day clinic, students will receive professional instruction in all areas of the game including dribbling, shooting, blocking and defense. They will also learn valuable lessons about sportsmanship and the team concept. As a bonus, players will receive a ticket to an upcoming Rockets game! The clinic is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15, and will be held at the Pearland Recreation Center & Natatorium from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, February 17. Recreational Youth Flag Football Leagues Pearland Parks & Recreation invites all youth flag football players to register for our spring recreational flag football league, the premier league for boys and girls ages 7 to 12. This league is designed to teach teamwork, the fundamentals of football and preparation for future football teams. All players receive a flag football jersey, flag belt, mouth guard and individual awards. The season consists of two practices per week, with a 7-week game schedule and a single-elimination playoff for the top four teams in each division (with the exception of the 8 & Under division). Zumba Classes at the Westside Event Center
The Westside Event Center is currently taking registration for ongoing Zumba classes to take place this month! Classes are held Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Classes are just $15 for residents and $35 for non-residents. Zumba is a mix of hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy dance moves that will have you sweating off the pounds! Both men and women are welcome, and the first class is always FREE! Kid’z Nite Out Means Fun for Kids…and a Night Off for You!
Join us on the second Saturday of every month for a night full of games, contests, crafts and high-energy entertainment as Kid’z Nite Out returns to the RCN! The February Kid’z Nite Out date is February 8! Kids ages 3 to 11 will have tons of fun meeting up with friends or just hanging out! Each Kidz Nite Out event will provide a different themed experience as our theme changes each month. Dinner will be served to each registrant, so parents can take full advantage of having a night out, too! Ages 6 years and younger will enjoy a night of activities in our famous Kid’z Korner. Summer Camp Registration Opens February 10
We know it’s still winter, but are you ready for Summer Camp? Get a jump on your summer plans and sign up your children for one of our summer camps: Camp K.I.A. (Kids in Action) is for children ages 6 to 10 and Camp Mahalo is for ages 11 to 14. Both camps are supervised by degreed professionals and feature a low staff-to-camper ratio. Each camper should bring a sack lunch and water bottle each day to camp. A morning and afternoon snack will be provided. Each camp session will include at least one field trip typically held on Thursdays. Registration for summer camp begins February 10!
