Recently, there have been thefts at two day cares, Children’s Lighthouse and Kandiland Day Care where a parent left their purses in an unlocked car to go inside and pick up their children.  This type of crime happens a lot when we think “I’ll only be gone for a minute, nothing will happen.”

Parents are warned that it takes only seconds for burglars to snatch purses and valuables from vehicles as they are dropping off or pick up their children from day care. These incidents are taking place in broad daylight and have been reported at two different day care centers. The police department’s advice is simple, but important.  Officers recommend that you take time to put valuables away from sight and always turn off the car and lock it.  More importantly, take your purse and valuables with you when you go inside the day care.
