Wednesday, January 22nd at 7pm – Rudyard Kipling: a man in search of home — discussion led by past president of the Pearland Adult Reading Center, Tom Woods, and Philosophy and Ethics Professor Emeritus (Loyola University and San Jacinto College), Robert Craig.
Thursday, January 23rd at 6:30pm – Computer Class: Microsoft Excel – Learn the basics of this spreadsheet/accounting program.
Monday, January 27 at 1:30pm – Computer Class: Microsoft Word – Learn the basics to create a letter, resume, or flyer.
Thursday, January 30th at 6:20pm- Movie Night with Gilda starring Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford. Directed by Charles Vidor in 1946. This film is not rated and runs 110 minutes.
Thursday, February 6th at 7pm – Andy Upchurch, author of The Oleanders of San Leonwill speak at the Friendswood Public Library. Oleanders is about the adventures of an itinerant musician and sailor who one day decides to move ashore and build a house by himself – with no experience! An inspirational book of setting a goal that seems out-of-reach, and achieving it. Meant to be read from the rocking chair on your porch Saturday morning with a cup of coffee in your hand, in your hammock after mowing the yard, or from your reclining lounge chair on the beach at Montserrat (or Galveston, or a beach anywhere).
Tuesday, February 11th at 7pm – Book Club. Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter by Tom Franklin. Book Club meets the 2nd Tuesday each month at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments are provided.
Thursday, February 13th at 10:30am – Road Scholar Discussion. Interested in traveling? Interested in learning something while you travel? Sandy McHone, a Friendswood resident will share her experiences with participating in 62 Road Scholar programs. This world-wide travel resource include a wide range of topics and formats with locations in every state in the U.S. and in more than 150 countries.
Wednesday, February 19th at 7pm – WWI Reenactor Kevin Burke will give a presentation on The U.S. Doughboy 1917-1919. This presentation will include a brief overview of the Great War, the Citizen Soldier, enlistment vs. conscription, training, uniforms and equipment, weapons, mobility, combat experience, daily life and routine, the return and reintegration into civilian life, and the lasting legacy.
