During the month of January, Pet Hub Animal Rescue is collecting gently used paperback books and is sending them to American troops deployed overseas, to military families and veterans hospitals located within the United States, as well as USO centers at US Airport transit points.   Last year over 2000 books were collected for our troops.

Bestsellers, action and spy-novels, murder mysteries, westerns, fantasy and science fiction are the most popular genres requested by our service men and women.  Also high on the list are requests for business and investing books, classics, history (especially military history), and current event-oriented non-fiction.  The VA hospitals are looking for all kinds of puzzle books.  Their favorites are word find and crossword puzzles.  Pornography or sexually explicit materials are not accepted and will not be sent to the troops.

If you would like to “Sponsor A Box”, Pet Hub is also accepting donations to help pay for the postage.   It costs approximately $9 to ship a box (15 – 20 books) to our troops overseas. You can write a check to Pet Hub Animal Rescue and in the memo line put Operation Paperback.  Mail the check to Pet Hub Animal Rescue 2800 E Broadway, Suite C PMB 422 Pearland, TX, 77581.  All donations are fully tax deductible.
