Pearland’s Scout Troop 464 Retires US Flags
There have been several inquiries about how to retire a well-worn US flag. According to Boy Scout Troop 464 in Pearland, “When the flag is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
Troop 464 would be happy to properly retire your flags. They typically have 2 retirement ceremonies a year. One they complete as a Troop during a campout and the other is working with the local VFW.
You can drop off your flags at their office which is in the old townsite area (corner of Broadway and Grand) or at the VFW Hall at 4202 W. Walnut in E. Pearland. They have a collection barrel at the entrance to the hall.
Thank you to Craig with Troop 464 and Silvercreek Tribune for this information!
