School Supply Drives to Benefit Students

Pearland ISD students will be supplied for success thanks to the generosity of two annual school supply drives during the back-to-school season.
Community members may support students by donating school supplies to these drives.
YMCA Operation Backpack (July 18 – Aug. 11)
For the ninth consecutive year, Pearland’s Coppinger Family YMCA — in cooperation with other Houston-area YMCAs — invites the community to donate backpacks and school supplies for students who might otherwise return to school unprepared.
During the YMCA Operation Backpack drive (July 18 – Aug. 11), community members may drop off new backpacks and school supplies at the Coppinger YMCA, 2700 YMCA Drive.
Suggested donations for Pearland ISD students include. . . .
- Sandwich- and gallon-size plastic bags
- Lunch bags
- Hand sanitizer and facial tissue
- Paper towels and plates
- Writing tablets and notebooks
- Index cards
- Pens and pencils
- Construction paper
This year, the YMCA’s goal is to collect 55,000 backpacks filled with supplies for students in the greater Houston area.

Stuff the School Bus (July 31 – Aug. 18)
Pearland ISD will receive free school supplies thanks to the seventh annual Stuff the School Bus Program with Cox Media Group Houston and Kroger.
Supporters of Pearland ISD students can make a difference by buying $7 pre-packaged school supply kits at Kroger or donating at the register throughout the campaign (July 31 – Aug. 18).
At the end of the program, all supplies will be divided evenly and distributed to participating school districts, including Pearland ISD.
Last year, Stuff the School Bus collected more than $200,000 worth of supplies (29,000 kits) to donate to the five selected districts. This year’s goal is to increase that total by 8 percent.
