Pearland Parks & Recreation announces the release of our Summer 2013 “A Time For Leaisure” program guide! This free publication is an essential tool for planning summertime activities for adults, seniors and kids of all ages. The Summer 2013 edition includes camp information, swim lesson schedules, ourSummerfest concert guide and much more. The guide is now available for online viewing and you can pick up a copy a one of our facilities. Member registration opens on May 6, followed by general registration on May 13.

Summerfest Sends Sweet Sounds into Southdown!

Come out and relax to the tunes of a live band every Friday evening during the months of May and June at Southdown Park from 7 to 9 p.m. asSummerfest makes its return to Pearland. Food vendors will be on hand selling a delicious variety of foods and the splash pad and playground will be available for the kids.

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets, then sit back and enjoy an evening of fun and family entertainment. Summerfest is FREE for all ages.

Summer Memberships Make Sense!

The Recreation Center & Natatorium will be offering a promotional Summer Membership from May 20 through June 15. The memberships are three months in length, beginning from the day you sign up. Summer Memberships are 3-month memberships paid in full at the monthly rate. This membership can be added on to existing plans, which make it perfect for students coming home from college or people just wanting to get in shape for the summer. Westside Event Center Offers Kiddie Kapers & Kiddie College

We have extended our preschool program at the Westside Event Center and will be offering Kiddie Kapers and Kiddie Kollege programs during the summer months. These programs are for children ages 3 to 5. Children must be toilet-trained to participate. These classes are aimed to get your child ready for a classroom setting and help with social, emotional, and intellectual growth. For more information on these programs, please call 713.436.8600.

Get Your Game On with Our Adult Sports Leagues

Pearland Parks & Recreation offers adult athletic leagues in men’s and co-ed softball, co-ed volleyball, men’s basketball, co-ed kickball and adult tennis. Registration for all adult sports league play begins May 13 and ends June 4. All participants must be 18 or older in order to participate in adult athletic leagues. Let Freedom Sing Finalists to Perform During Summerfest

Pearland Parks & Recreation would like to thank all of our rising stars who performed during our “Let Freedom Sing” auditions at Pearland Town Center. Our finalists will each have an opportunity to perform during Summerfest. Each finalist was selected by a panel of judges based on their renditions of the national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and “God Bless America.” The finalists in the adult category are Misty Howell, Tarin Criddle, Shilpa Sadogopan and Erika Perry. The finalists in the children’s category are Sarah Jade Stowers, Virginia Cooper, Joan Cooper and Kayla Cooper. One winner from each category will represent Pearland by singing at the upcoming “Celebration of Freedom” event on Thursday, July 4.

Father & Child 2-On-2 Basketball Tournament

Celebrate Father’s Day with Pearland Parks & Rec during the 3rd Annual Father & Child 2-on-2 Basketball Tournament on Sunday, June 9! Children ages 7 to 14 will partner with their dads/guardians to take on other families in a double elimination tournament. This is a great opportunity for fathers/guardians to be active with their children in a friendly game of half-court basketball and to teach children the importance of good sportsmanship. The tournament takes place on two courts with 4 brackets of 6 teams divided by age group: 6-8 years, 9-10 years, 11-12 years and 13-14 years. Everyone receives a t-shirt commemorating the event and the top two finishers of each bracket receive an award. Register online at our Web site.

Join iKids Camp for a Summer Adventure in Technology!

Every fun-filled iKids camp has a technology focus, combined with creative activities, academic enrichment, recreation time and more! Little iKids Camps, for ages 3 to 7, include LEGO® Tech Time Machine, Dinotunes Digital Discovery, LEGO® Tech Luau, Weebot Wonderland, and PC Pet Shop! Big iKids Camps, for ages 7 to 12, include Digital Media Magic, Zoo Bots, Robotics Go Green, Land of the Lost Bots, and Digital Media Mystery! Celebrate A Birthday at the Recreation Center & Natatorium

Make your child’s next birthday party the easiest one you’ve ever planned by celebrating it at the RCN! Pearland Parks & Recreation offers parties at the Recreation Center and pool parties at the Natatorium. Your themed birthday party package includes your party host, decorations, one hour designated for the activity of your choice, and one hour of party time in our Kidz Korner or Multi-Purpose Room. Kids receive goodie bags filled with toys and healthy snacks.
