Solicitors in Pearland Neighborhoods
There have been reports from Pearland residents that solicitors are going around their neighborhoods. Some cases the solicitor is saying they are with Direct Energy or with an alarm company. This has concerned residents because the solicitors are unable to produce the required permits and in some cases have asked for entry into a persons home. So the question as to the legitimacy of these solicitors has been raised.
Pine Hollow along with other subdivisions have “No Soliciting” signs posted at the entrances of the subdivision, which means these types of vendors should not be there. All solicitors within the City of Pearland are required to have a permit in order to solicit. The solicitor MUST have this permit on their person while they are soliciting within the City.
As a suggestion, to protect you and your neighbors, if you get these solicitors at your door you first point out that Pine Hollow is a no solicitation neighborhood, ask to see their solicitation permit from the city and also ask to see their company ID. If they can’t produce a copy of the permit and an ID get rid of the person at the door and call the police.
Get a good description of the person and if you can their car and the direction they might have headed so you can supply that to an officer. If you get an uncomfortable feeling you should really call the police or sheriff. Don’t even hesitate to do so. Don’t call 911 unless you are in direct fear of these people, instead call dispatch to report. Officers really don’t mind stopping by to get these guys out of our neighborhoods. You might be saving either yourself or a neighbor from a break-in.
BE PROACTIVE NEIGHBORS.
