Emergency Message from the City of Pearland

The City of Pearland Office of Emergency Management is actively monitoring the inclement weather. The City of Pearland is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning and the Office of Emergency Management has moved to Level 3 – Increased Readiness in response to the inclement weather. We will continue to monitor the disturbance. Please check the local media and the National Weather Service for updates.
Residents who commute to areas of Houston are encouraged to check with Houston Transtar for road closures.
Facility closures
All Parks & Recreations facilities will be closed on Friday, Aug. 25. The affected facilities include:

  • Pearland Recreation Center & Natatorium (4141 Bailey, Pearland, Texas 77584)
  • Knapp Activity Center (2424 South Park, Pearland, Texas 77581)
  • Westside Event Center (2150 Countryplace Parkway, Pearland, Texas 77584)

Trash/Recycling services
At this time, trash/recycling service will occur as usual on Friday, Aug. 25 and pickup for Saturday, Aug. 26 is predicated on weather conditions (wind, flood, etc.).

Emergency alerts
Residents should sign up to receive emergency alerts at pearlandtx.gov/alerts.

The City of Pearland Fire Marshal would like to take the opportunity to remind citizens that the possession or use of fireworks within the city limits of the City of Pearland and the surrounding extraterritorial jurisdiction is prohibited by City Ordinance.

The Pearland Fire Marshal Division and Pearland Police Department will be actively enforcing this ordinance. Individuals violating the ordinance face a class C misdemeanor that can carry a fine of up to $2,000 per violation and may also result in the confiscation and subsequent destruction of any illegal fireworks found within the City of Pearland jurisdiction.

Pearland residents are encouraged to view the fireworks display at the City’s annual Celebration of Freedom event being held at the Pearland High School Stadium on July 4th, beginning at 6 p.m. The free, family-friendly event includes live music and a state of the art fireworks display.
