Get Fit this Summer with our Summer Membership Promotion!

The Recreation Center & Natatorium is offering a special Summer Membership available for purchase from May 19 through July 7. Summer Memberships are 3 months in length, paid in full at the monthly rate starting from the date of purchase. They can be added on to existing plans, which makes them perfect for students coming home from college, teachers looking to build their strength over the break or anyone who wants to be more active this summer! Summerfest Rocks in Southdown Park!

 

Summerfest, the City of Pearland’s free concert series, is back for another season of live music, fantastic sunset views and summertime play on the playground! Starting May 2 and taking place every Friday evening throughout May and June, Summerfest brings hot bands from around our state to perform live on-stage in Southdown Park. Bands featured in this year’s lineup include Zueldo, Kelly McGuire, Rat Ranch, Jonathan Fox Band, Texas Unlimited Band, The Fab 5, Bayou Roux, Mango Punch and Hamilton Loomis.

Patrons are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs and coolers (but no glass items, please) or choose from the fare offered by our variety of snack and concession vendors! The Southdown Park splash pad will be in operation, as well as the playground structure and the dog park, so the whole family is sure to be entertained. Father & Child 2-on-2 Basketball Tournament

Celebrate Father’s Day with Pearland Parks & Recreation as we host our 4th annual Father & Child 2-on-2 Basketball Tournament! Children ages 7 to 14 will partner with their dads/guardians to take on other families in a double-elimination tournament. This is a great opportunity for children to be active with the most important man in their lives in a friendly game of half-court basketball, learning about good sportsmanship while building an indelible memory for the future! 

The tournament takes place on June 8 at the RCN. All participants receive a t-shirt commemorating the event, with the top two finishers in each bracket receiving awards. Registration deadline for this event is Sunday, June 1. Pre-registration is required, with no walk-ups allowed. The cost of participation is $15 for RCN members, $35 for non-members. Master the Art of Jiu-Jitsu

 

Jiu-jitsu, known as “the gentle art,” incorporates the mental, physical and spiritual aspects of martial arts. Learn to build personal character and confidence with Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, named for the world-famous Brazilian family who developed this style of self-defense. Jiu-jitsu, in addition to providing you with a great cardio workout, will also help you to train to improve your mind, body and soul in a team-building atmosphere. Classes are available for both Youth (ages 6 to 12 years) and Adult (ages 13 and up). The cost of the Adult course is $125/month for residents, $155/month for non-residents. The cost of the Youth course is $105/month for residents, $135/month for non-residents. Fees are due on a monthly basis. Adult Athletic League Registration Begins May 12

Pearland Parks & Recreation offers adult athletic leagues in men’s and co-ed softball, co-ed volleyball, men’s basketball, adult tennis and co-ed kickball. Registration for all adult leagues begins May 12, and ends June 5. Get Into the Rhythm of Zumba at the Westside Event Center

 

The Westside Event Center currently offers ongoing Zumba classes. Classes are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m., and on Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Zumba is a fusion of dance and latin rhythms that get you moving, all while having an awesome workout! Summer is the most popular time to take swimming lessons, and Pearlanders are fortunate to have access to a state-of-the-art facility like the Natatorium in which to take them!
